The Youth Center of the Dravinja Valley (MCDD) is an associate partner in the EUYOU project, which is a pilot project of a consortium of Slovenian organizations aimed at raising awareness and advising on the civil rights of mobile EU citizens and their integration into local democratic communities. It is implemented by Mreža MaMa network, IPM Institute and IPM Communications under the Rights, Equality and Citizenship program, funded by the European Commission.
As part of the project, MCDD has so far conducted an introductory meeting that took place on the Zoom app, followed by an intercultural evening that took place live. At the latter, Polish culture and cuisine were presented by a EU citizen, and experiences in exercising the rights of EU citizens in Slovenia were shared. The young people concluded that they often have difficulties in exercising their rights in Slovenia. They also pointed out the inappropriate attitude of some employees in public institutions. Nevertheless, they concluded: “Slovenia is a wonderful country. It’s really great to live here.“
